I almost didn't want to write this post.

This colorway, "Sea Slug" and other exclusive colorways in the Purl Diver Collection was inspired by A Good Yarn Sarasota's shopowner's husband's underwater photography.

Sea Slug colorway is a variegated yarn, with a little bit of deep red wine color, earthy browns, and different shades of burgundy, and the sparkling nylon is embedded all over, making this yarn specially pretty and festive.

Did you hear that the Color of the Year in 2015 is going to be Marsala, a red-brown fortified wine color? This Sea Slug colorway is right there in the Marsala range, only prettier, because it's a yarn and more saturated and has sparkling nylon all over.

To test the yarn, I decided to make another version of my Lady Sybil socks, except with longer legs and with short-row heels.

This 3-ply (4-ply if you count the Sparkling Nylon) yarn has just enough twist for excellent stitch definition, as you can see here in the Lady Sybil's lace pattern. And even though the color changes occur frequently enough to be variegated, the colors work so harmoniously that it almost works like a semi-solid colorway.

The sparkling nylon, or Stellina fiber yarn, is all the rage this year and with cashmere and merino contents, Serenity Glitter sock yarn is just perfect for that soft, luxurious sock project. In the skein, you really can't feel the full potential of this yarn. Once I finished the first sock, I tried it on and felt like my foot was wrapped in clouds.

I am seriously in love with the glitter and all the deep rich red colors in this yarn. Can't wait to finish the project!
